Modern Africans
Some not brilliant shots of the start of my modern African project, which I'm thinking of scrapping and re-starting in 15mm

Slavers!
In an attempt to increase the sizes of my African forces I've painted up some more Arabs (with some British to come) and I managed to get a decent snap of some Ruga Ruga I painted a while ago.
Here they are:

Adobe House
A quick shot of my adobe house, bashed together with foamcore with plastered walls and a thick cardboard base. It was mainly done as a test piece - I have some better pieces half completed.

Pictish Archers
Last entry for the LPL, was planning a Lord of the Rings scene for the bonus points but got caught up in painting Picts and Swiss instead!

Werewolves
My Werewolves for Fear and Faith
(click for bigger pic)
Just quick drybrush paintjobs which I'm not too pleased with (might go back and tidy up the wolf-men in particular). They should hold up well enough for the tabletop though.
Westwind models again, I'm not too impressed by the wolf men (the shoulders are a bit funny and the detail could be better) but the big wolf and regular wolves I can't recommend enough. I have some more werewolves for my Roadkill games to be painted, these are from the Secrets of the third Reich game from Westwind and are much nicer models.

More Roadkill
Having taken a few days holiday between bank holidays I'm hoping to finish off a few outstanding projects.
Firstly some cops for Roadkill/Fear and Faith. (Wargames Foundry)
Some Zombies (Copplestone Castings and Crocodile Games)
The Hairy Bikers (Copplestone Castings)
The top two pics will be my LPL entries for the next two weeks as well.

Roadkill
A couple of years ago I discovered the Westwind Productions Roadkill line and fell in love with it. Sadly the rules which it went with it were so badly edited that they were useless. I still ended up with a pile of painted figures that haven't seen much gaming.
With my new obsession with Fear and Faith, I've pulled them out of the box and started stat-ing them up.
Here are some shots of the models (more to come)
Cleaver Vine, Zombie Hunter
Blade, Vampire Hunter
RAGE Virus Zombies (one managed to escape photography, there should be 8 of them!)
Rednecks, some of the most characterful models ever sculpted in my opinion!
Still to come... Cops, Bikers and regular Zombies!

First LPL Win
Well I managed to win my first LPL draw with some Uruk-Hai
These were painted for a Song of Blades and Heroes warband to add to some other Uruk-Hai I got from ebay a few years back (painted by Jim Bowen, formerly of Foundry, not Bullseye, no less).
I might re-paint the bows a different colour (black most likely) as I'm not happy with them, any thoughts?
Here's a shot of all that I have at the moment:
I have another group of 6 on my painting table (including Ugluk, a beserker and one carrying an hobbit) that should be all that I need.

Goblins
This weekends entry to the LPL, some goblins for my Warhammer Orc and Goblin Army. I'm intending to have around 30 of these chaps plus the new sneaky gits (which I'm holding back as a reward for getting twenty done...)
I've got the next ten undercoated and assembled, but have got distracted by painting Uruk-Hai for a Song of Blades and Heroes game down the club on Monday and drybrushing a small Werewolf warband for Fear and Faith (pics forthcoming!).
Managed to win a 2v2 game down the club on Monday. Dwarves vs Empire (10mm). Me and Dick managed to take down Barry and Dillon, helped mostly by the pursuit rules which stopped Barry rolling up our line with his knights and Griffon-mounted General. Forgot my camera though so no pics.
Also had a 1500point Warhammer game in my flat against Pete from work. A close game, which saw me come out on top by about 50points. No pics thanks to the lights above the table not working! (Pete's army is mostly unpainted too)

Vampires vs Wolfen Jaeger
While I'd got my camera set up to take my LPL entry this week I thought I'd take a couple of "action shots" of my Fear and Faith figures.
What do you think?

Lead Painters League
I entered my first online painting competition last week at the Lead Adventure Forum.
I entered some European traders that I painted especially for the competition. You can see the post here: LPL5 Round 1 Entry. As you can see I didn't win my first draw, but managed a decent number of votes, which I was really pleased about. The general consensus seems to be I needed a better picture though.
This week I've put in the vampire children to go with my Vampire and bat for a Fear and Faith team. You can vote at this post Vampire Kids. They don't seem to be doing too well at this point though! Still its a good motivator to get figs painted!

10mm Fantasy Day
Last Sunday the Oxford Wargames Society had a mini tournament using the club 10mm fantasy rules.
I took along my dwarves (and borrowed a couple of elements just to round it off). My first game was against High Elves, where I rather stupidly left my dwarves hiding in woods while they were encircled by elves. Some lucky dice rolls either way meant it came down to the last element but being badly out-maneuvered put me on a loss.
My second game was against a vast Orc and Goblin Horde. I decided to advance and claim the ground over the river and try to work the flank of the Orcs, while hoping the cannons supported by a couple of warriors could hold my own flank. This mostly went to plan with my trollslayers eating through a lot of orcs, bringing me a solid win.
My last game was against the undead. This game was over quickly as I managed to get my trollslayers onto the undead flank and roll up 4 elements in one swoop, as well as taking out the tomb king (causing the army to slowly disintergrate).
With a big win, a win and a loss it left me on the same points as 3 other players. Monday night see part one of the play-offs to determine the winner.

Vampire with Bat
Just a quick pic of my latest paint job. A vampire and his bat form.
The vamp is a Westwind Productions model and the bat is from an old Games Workshop bat swarm I found in my bits box.
Look out for the rest of his warband in the Lead Painters League on the Lead Adventure forum.

Dwarfs
I managed to pop the finishing touches on these little chaps today.
They've been painted to fill out some regiments for Warhammer 8th Ed. I think I'll probably need more dwarf warriors (they stand at 25 at the moment), but I think I'll play a few more games and see before I brave ebay to pick any more up.

Africa Club Game
The Monday after the Overlord show called for a fairly straight forward game after an all-day Sunday wargames fest. So I brought along an African game.
We played with a colonial force consisting of:
Regular Leader (Mighty Warrior)
2 Units of 6 Regulars
1 Unit of 6 Soldiers
1 Unit of 3 White Men
1 Unit of 14 Askaris
1 Unit of 12 Musketeers
1 Standard Bearer
1 Machine Gun
and a Slaver force consisting of:
Swordsman Leader (Mighty Warrior)
14 Swordsmen
12 Askaris
2 Units of 12 Ruga Ruga
12 Warriors
8 Spearmen
6 Archers
1 Standard Bearer
1 Witchdoctor
We played the encounter scenario, only the slavers chose to put a unit in Ambush. They placed the Warriors as close to the British as they could. This ambush turned out to be a disappointment, as they rolled low when springing this ambush on the unsuspecting musketeers. The British askaris performed well unleashing two volleys, first on the spearmen coming through the woods and then at the warriors once they'd sprung from the jungle.
On the other side of the battlefield, the regulars and machine gun advanced towards the arabs. The threat of the machine gun kept a unit of Ruga Ruga hidden in the jungle (until it permanently jammed), however the swordsmen managed to get close enough to the regulars to unload a volley then charge in. After several rounds of melee the regulars came off worse and the British leader was chopped up.
The Ruga Ruga, Witchdoctor and remaining spearmen then managed to cause enough morale tests between them on the askaris, musketeers and soldiers to rout them all in one fell swoop, leaving the unit of white men to be mobbed and brought down.
The game ended with the remaining unit of regulars with their backs to the river bank, having shot the remaining arabs and Ruga Ruga.
Another enjoyable game, everyone was impressed by the witchdoctor and standard bearers for their ability to add and negate morale tests, absolute must-haves in any force which can have them.
